AMOXICILLIN

Main indication

- Pneumonia

- Otitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis...

- After ampi, when injection are not animore a necessity

- PID (+ genta + metro)

Dose

500mgr x 4

We can give more (but maximum is 4.5 grams a day).

Amoxicillin may be taken on a full or empty stomach.

Possible side/adverse effect

Exfoliative dermatitis (red, scaly skin)

serum sickness-like reactions (skin rash; joint pain; fever)

skin rash, hives, or itching

Cross allergy with other drugs of same family: pen, ampi, cloxa...

Other informations

Bacteriostatic drugs (doxycyclin, erythro, chloramphenicol...) may interfere with the bactericidal effect of amoxy in the treatment of meningitis or in other situations in which a rapid bactericidal effect is necessary, it is best to avoid concurrent therapy.

Store between 15 and 30 °C Store in a tight container.
